3-D Printing Club (Grades 6 to 8 only)
Day: Thursdays
Time: 2:30- 4:00 p.m.
Dates: March 9 - May 4, 2023

Location: Room 228
Description: In 3D Printing Club, students will use the MakerBot 3D Printer to
print and create unique models. Students will learn how a 3D printer works and about CAD (Computer Aid Design) Software such as TinkerCAD. Once they understand how the 3D printer works, students will be challenged to use TinkerCAD to design various creations. Each student will have the opportunity to print at least one design they create. Students will have opportunities to compete against one another to design, create and print an object where students in the club will vote on the best designs to be printed. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis. There will only be 15 seats available.
Basketball

Description: Students will play 3 vs. 3 and 5 vs. 5 organized basketball games as well as work on the basic skills and techniques involved in basketball.
Board Game Club

Description: Colonel Mustard with a Monopoly board in the library? Yes! Unwind after school with friends and a variety of board games. A selection of single-player games will

BOKS
Day: Tuesdays and Thursdays

Description: BOKS (Build Our Kids' Success) is a before school activity that gives students a chance to get some excess energy out before classes begin. Students will participate in warm-up drills, stretching exercises, and then play a physical education game such as capture the flag, kickball, relay races, and more! Students will leave BOKS each week with an appreciation for exercise and with mindfulness strategies to practice on their own. BOKS will be held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. in the gymnasium with Ms. McBride and Ms. Keough starting on February 7th.

Description:
Students will have the opportunity to perform in and produce this year's drama production of Cap'n Hook! In Cap'n Hook, everyone's favorite pirate villain, Captain Hook, is a resident at The Jolly Roger Pirate Retirement Home, where he and his pals Blackbeard, Smee, Anne Bonny, and Captain Blood spend their days reminiscing about high times on the high seas. Students will meet weekly from January - May in order to prepare a final performance. Please note that students who audition for a role must be available to attend the rehearsal times stated above. Participants will receive monthly rehearsal schedules detailing the specific roles and scenes being rehearsed.

Description:
Have you always wanted to grow your own flowers, vegetables, fruits, and herbs? Are you someone who loves all things GREEN? Do you want to help our community? Then come join the PWMS Garden Club. Garden Club meets on Thursdays from 2:30 - 4:00. The first meeting is Thursday, March 23rd, in the cafeteria. Please see Ms. Cunniff in room 220 if you have any questions.
Grade 8 Science MCAS Prep
Day: Wednesdays
Time: 7:30 - 8:15 a.m.
Dates: Starting Wednesday, March 1st until Wednesday, May 10th

Description: Students will review science standards from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade and engage in hands-on lessons and activities. In addition to the science content, the class will review the necessary strategies and test-taking skills needed to help successfully complete the exam. This is an excellent opportunity for students to work with their peers and receive individualized instruction. Together, students will work to enhance their test-taking abilities, review content from their three years of middle school, and decrease test-taking anxiety. Homework Help

Description: Homework Help provides an opportunity for students to complete and receive assistance with their homework assignments in all subject areas. Students who attend Homework Help should bring the appropriate materials (ex. Chromebooks) needed to access and complete their homework assignments, and students will be required to stay the full duration of the meeting (2:30 - 3:30). Students may sign-up for one or both sessions (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
Math Competition Club (by invitation only)

If you are interested in challenging your math expertise, this is the place. In this program, we will be working collaboratively with groups of students to tackle some complex Grade 7 - Grade 9 word problems. This club is an interactive opportunity to push the boundaries of your math limits.

Printers on Point

Description: Printing Club will be limited to grade 7 and 8 students only. We will be making and creating hats, cups, mugs, and t-shirts using a sublimation printer and a top-of-the-line printing press. We will also be discussing marketing and finance, as we will be selling our merchandise at school events. Please join us in spreading Point Pride throughout the community with the amazing merchandise we will be creating.
Gr. 5 LEGO Robotics Club

Description: Grade 5 LEGO Robotics serves as an introduction to the robotics program.
Students will work on daily STEM challenges where they will learn to design programs to move a robot, build structures with LEGOs and learn how to research and create solutions to real-world problems. Description: Students will work on Robot Design and programming using the Lego MindStorm EV3 Robot. Students will be programming the robot to complete a themed mission designed by First Lego League. Students will be applying the Engineering Design Process towards an Innovation Research Project to create a solution for a real-world problem. Select students from the Point Webster Robotic Team will compete in the annual QPS Spring Robotics Competition (held in May at Quincy High School). Students will compete in Robot Mission, Robot Design, Innovation Project and Core Values. Additional days may be added as we get closer to competition.

Description:
Select Grade 6 and 7 students will be invited to participate in the Annual 8th Grade STEM Fair held on March 9, 2023. Students will be required to prepare a research project and presentation for the STEM related topic with more of a focus on Technology and Engineering. Students will apply the Engineering Design Process in developing and researching their solution to a real-world problem. Students will work with a partner. They will be required to present their research project at the STEM Fair for judging. Additional days may be added as we get closer to competition.

Description: Morning Volleyball is an opportunity for the student to learn and master basic volleyball skills with minimum drills and a lot of scrimmaging. We discuss the game and its rules along with the proper mechanics needed to further their skills in volleyball. Please join us especially if you are planning on going out for Point Volleyball this year.
