Attendance & Absence Reporting

Report an Absence: Please call 617-984-6600

If your child is going to be absent from school for any reason, please call Ms. McQuinn, our school attendance secretary, at 617-984-6600 in the morning to report it. If we do not receive a call from you, the attendance paraprofessional will try to call a parent/guardian at home or the workplace. If no contact is made, your child may be considered truant.

If you know ahead of time that your child is to be dismissed from school, please send in a note with your child indicating the time and reason.

If your child is going to be late to school, a parental note is required explaining the tardiness. It is also expected that you indicate the time you expect your child to arrive at school. If a student enters school between 8:15 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. without a note he/she will be admitted to school and a note must be sent to school the next day. Students whose tardiness is unexcused may be kept after school. Students who are repeatedly tardy may have a suspension hearing with a parent/guardian.

Regular school attendance is fundamental for a student’s academic success and personal growth. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to learn the material, participate in class discussions, and complete assignments.

Excessive absences may impact a student's academic standing and eligibility for certain extracurricular activities. We encourage parents/guardians to prioritize regular attendance to ensure their child's academic progress and overall well-being.
